Become a family carer
Welcoming minors or young adults into your home: a paid, trained profession of solidarity. The Department recruits all year round.

A family carer is a person who, for payment, welcomes minors or young adults under 21 into their home. Together with their household, they form a "host family". The Puy-de-Dôme Department recruits new family carers all year round.
The family carer's missions
The job is built around four core missions:
- Welcome the child whom difficulties (emotional, educational, material) prevent from living with their family.
- Support their integration into the host family, according to age and needs.
- Provide a balanced environment ensuring wellbeing, safety and affection.
- Guide them toward autonomy, whether a child or a young adult.
The job requires approval issued by the President of the Departmental Council, valid for 5 years and renewable. Training (100 hrs before the first placement, then 420 hrs over 3 years) is fully funded by the employer.
